SPANISH CEDAR
We only select and machine the best in lumber.
Despite the common name Cedar, Spanish Cedar is actually a hardwood. It is not a true Cedar but actually comes from the Meliaceae family, the same as Mahogany. The aroma repels insects and the high resin count makes is very rot and weather resistant. The lumber has a low density making it very light in use and highly sought after as a high quality exterior grade species.Heritage Fine windows are made from Spanish Cedar because it is naturally beautiful, highly resistant to rot and decay, and is lightweight. The timber is dimensionally stable, is reported to have generally high strength properties relative to weight and holds its shape very well after seasoning. It also has excellent paint and staining characteristics.
